Q-MENTOR an ECVET project

Following the European commission, the basic intention of our TOI-Project “Q-Mentor” is to increase the number of mobility abroad and recognize the competences acquired. The project follows the European priority “Development and transfer of mobility strategies in VET”. Thereby our partnership consortium aims at improving the quality of mobility experiences under ECVET thanks to a sustainable implementation of instruments for better transparency and recognition.

As for the strategic aim, we as Mobility players (sending or receiving/coordinating organizations) organize mobility experiences for apprentices with high value within lasting and effective partnership in order to implement valid learning outcomes as a standard for mobility.

Company Mentors in receiving and sending companies play a strategic role in the process of organizing, carrying out and evaluating mobility experiences; therefore they are to be seen as KEY FOR QUALITY INSURANCE.

We will focus on their training in how to understand and apply the mentioned instruments for transparency and recognition of the learners’ competences.

Who could better judge the competence acquisition than supervisors in the companies?

This is why we talk about Q-MENTOR.


To reach our aim mentors will be trained and become familiar with the following topics:

  • Transparency and trust in different national VET-systems
  • Competent application of European instruments for transparency (EQR, ECVET)
  • Implementation of valid learning outcomes in mobility

We consider the competence of Mentors in host companies to be an important factor. Many of them are used to host trainees but are not aware of their role to assure the quality of mobility.

That is why we founded a consortium consisting of partners:

With this technical expertise on the institutional level and the good network of companies regularly hosting students of the practical partners we will realize the project Q-MENTOR.


Every partner will chose 10 mentors, equal to 10 companies, who will support the capability analysis, testing and utilization of “Q-Mentor”-concept. Target groups are mentors in hosting or sending companies and apprentices, since they will finally profit from mobility experiences of better quality.

Regarding the type of transfer, we import the “Q-placement Handbook” (http://www.q-placements.eu/) from Spain to Germany, France, Malta and the United Kingdom across sectors.

The Q-MENTOR Handbook defines the role of relevant actors in mobility. The project partner f-bb brings in its expertise of the project “EDGE”, where a manual for creating and implementing competence recognition procedures related to learning outcomes has been developed.

What about the Q-MENTOR project?

We have made an analysis on which tools for quality insurance in mobility projects are already used in our partner countries as well as to which extent outcome-orientated and competence-based approaches are already applied by vocational trainers and teachers in our partner countries (+DE). Based on this analysis we have developed questionnaires and check lists which will be answered by the practical partners. With these answers and research results the quality concept will be inferred and specified.

After the analysis and transfer of results of “Q-placements” in relation to potential analysis of the Report on Quality assurance (f-bb) and to “EDGE”, conclusions will be formulated for the “Q-Mentor”-concept. The result will consist of the „Q-Mentor”-Handbook which will also be the basis for developing learning and teaching content/ modules.

After developing a description of requirements and needs for the platform and discussing the target groups, design and content we will set up the virtual information and communication platform http://www.q-mentor.eu/ as an online-based learning environment for the blended-learning concept “Q-Mentor”.

We will have to choose appropriate participating companies and handle communication with them in order to test and monitor the training concept “Q-Mentor” with 10 companies in each partner country together with project partners. Afterwards the results will be assessed and the feedback of testing companies will be used to adapt the Final version of the Q-Mentor Handbook.

Furthermore we will have to adapt and finalize the “Q-Mentor”- curriculum and prepare it for practical implementation.

We will create the design for a shared graphic chart for the project and produce leaflets. Furthermore we will prepare workshops and meetings, take part in national and international dissemination meetings and publish project results on partner websites and on the ADAM-database for disseminating and valorizing the projects` progress and results. We will also publish them in printed media (press releases, articles etc.) within project consortium and promote advertising of partners and companies with the seal of approval “Q-Mentor”.
